JMI Youth Big Band 2026
Now at JW3

The JMI Youth Big Band is moving to JW3 — and we’re recruiting!
From April 2026, our monthly rehearsals will take place at JW3 as we enter an exciting new chapter for the band.

About the Programme.
Open to young musicians aged 11–19, Grade 5+, the JMI Youth Big Band Ensemble Programme offers a unique chance to develop jazz, improvisation and ensemble skills in a focused, supportive and creative environment.

Led by composer, trumpeter and Musical Director Sam Eastmond, the programme brings together talented players to explore cutting‑edge repertoire, work with leading guest artists, and perform at top venues throughout the year.



Instruments: 
Drums/percussion/ Bass guitar/double bass/ Electric Guitar/ Piano/keys/ Saxophone (alto/tenor/baritone)/ Trumpet / Trombone/ French Horn/ Tuba

What’s Included:

• Monthly 3‑hour rehearsals
• Focus on ensemble playing, improvisation, jazz language and contemporary repertoire
• 2–3 concerts across the year
• Showcase performances at established venues
• Holiday workshops & ensemble development
• In-depth work on technique, improvisation and group playing
• Sessions and performance opportunities with special guest artists

Tuesday 25 & Wednesday 26 August – Summer Workshop (venue TBC) 10am-4pm
