After the success of last summer’s session on the forgotten sounds of the Sussman Collection, Jargon is delighted to bring Alan Dein back to House of Annetta in collaboration with the Jewish Music Institute. ‘Hidden Treasures’ will be a chance to dive deep into a neglected world of Anglo-Jewish music. Along the way we’ll hear from Alan about the extensive and unexpected holdings of the JMI’s archive, learn a little about the once-roaring trade of Yiddishe 78rpm records, and get a taste of what they contain, from the songs of the Yiddish theatre to comedy sketches, cantorials, and early klezmer.
