Khazones Underground is a bold new platform where visionary artists revive and reimagine the ancestral cantorial voice, bringing the emotional depth and spiritual power of khazones into the present day.

Chaia is an electronic composer blending Yiddish archival sound with techno and ambient frameworks, crafting live performances that fuse accordion, vocals, and samples into ritualistic explorations of ancestral memory and liberatory rave culture.

Elana Sasson is a vocalist, composer & bandleader. Her work explores identity and duality, drawing from Kurdish & Persian traditions, Mediterranean folk, and contemporary jazz.

Tai is a DJ, composer & multidisciplinary artist working across music, film, and performance. He recently crafted a live set exclusively for JMI from a rare, never-digitised archive – reviving lost sounds before they enter a permanent collection.

Wajima Tapes is an unconventional music selector on an obsessive quest for rare cassettes and records. As artistic curator of our JMI Archive, he handpicked every record in our collection. It was especially meaningful to have him play a late-night set at our launch event.
